General Rules and Guidelines

This forum provides data warehousing and business intelligence professionals with recommendations, answers, suggestions and experiences related to Kimball-oriented DW/BI best practices.

Note: There may be modifications to these rules and guidelines at anytime, so we invite you to re-read it regularly.



- Before you post: Do a search to see if your question has been already posted. You should also search the Kimball Group website for relevant articles and Design Tips.

- Topic titles: When you post your question or problem, please use a relevant title. Single-word titles such as "Urgent," "SOS," "Question," "Problem," or "Hurry" should be avoided.

- Description of your problem/question: When you ask a question, be clear and accurate.

- Colors and capitals: When you write your message, please don't abuse capitals or colors.

- Flames, rants, and off-topic: Please avoid attacks and verbal abuse. Short, one-word posts such like "lol", "rofl" or a single smiley are not helpful.

- Double-posting: Please try to avoid posting the same topic twice; it will not get you a faster response. If you make a mistake, please use the [Edit] button at the top-right of your post to avoid double-posting.

- Advertising for your company or product: Spamming is not tolerated. Please put your company name and the products you represent in your profile so we can all understand your influences.




- Defamatory, racist, hateful, pornographic, illegal or insulting content must be avoided on this forum. Please respect the fact that people have a different opinions. If you are in conflict with another member, please use private messages (PMs) for that; this board is not an arena.

- Please be patient. It's useless to up your topic every 2 minutes.

- If you received advertising, pornographic content or insults by PM, please send the whole copy (including the headers) to the moderator by PM. Posting it in a topic is useless and will only cause further conflicts.

Possible sanctions:

- If you spam by private message, your PM mailbox may be disabled.

- Advertising for monetary benefit results in an immediate ban.

- Ignoring the moderators' warnings and continuing to disregard will result in a ban from this forum.
